Another guy drowned in Pretoria's surging river, and numerous highways were damaged by the downpour.
The Pretoria Emergency Services Department is looking for a man who was washed away by the Apies River on Thursday afternoon near the Pretoria Zoological Gardens.
"In less than a week, there have been two incidents in the area of the Pretoria Zoo. According to spokesman Thabo Charles Mabaso, "another man perished on Friday, February 3, when the river washed him away. He was found on Saturday, February 4 near Pretoria North.
He claimed that on Thursday night, the extended search for the man was suspended due to poor sight and swiftly moving, high water.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) K9 and Diving Unit is in charge of the search today.
Two vehicles became stuck on Blackwood and Lyttelton Road as the Hennops River in Centurion burst its banks, causing flooding and forcing the closure of other roads. Both car's occupants made a safe escape.
