SARS issues a warning about reduced tax revenue

SARS predicts that tax revenue will be less.

SARS has issued this warning as the tax collector struggles to deal with the effects of load shedding.

According to SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter, some of the problems include ongoing power outages, growing living expenses, and a declining tax base.

He claims that the government's coffers will be short by a few million dollars due to the increased possibility that individuals and businesses will try to avoid paying taxes.

He was delivering a webinar for PSG Konsult.

Due to lower disposable income and less spending among consumers as a result of increased interest rates, there will likely be less VAT collected.
