Vehicle explodes on N1 highway
One person was injured after a vehicle, which was transporting petrol on a trailer, exploded
Emergency services reported that a vehicle carrying gasoline on a trailer burst on Friday near the William Nicol Drive off-ramp in Johannesburg, injuring one person.
According to Johannesburg EMS spokeswoman Xolile Khumalo, "A Mahindra truck pulling a trailer that was carrying a small tanker of roughly a 1 000L got engaged in an accident."
According to Khumalo, paramedics helped the injured person.
Xolani Fihla, a spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, encouraged drivers to drive extremely cautiously and to prepare for significant delays.
It has not yet been determined what caused the explosion, according to Fihla.
